Allan Cameron was the son of James Cameron of the Callart family and Mary Cameron of the Glennevis family. It is believed that he was born ca 1765.
A significant amount of circumstantial data suggests that he had an illegitimate daughter, Anne Cameron , with an unknown woman about 1785.
In 1792 he married Mary Ann Campbell daughter of Duncan Roy Campbell of Inverveich and Anna Campbell of the Stronslanny family and had issue.
Allan joined the Lochaber Fencibles when it was raised by Col Donald Cameron of Locheil at Falkirk on 15 June 1798. The Fencibles were sent to Ireland until they were disbanded at Linlithgow on 26 June 1802. Following the disbandment of the Lochaber Fencibles, Allan became the Factor for Lords Alexander and Godfrey M'Donald at Lochmaddy on the Isle of North Uist where he lived at Sponish House. He was later a Tacksman at Calgary on the Isle of Mull.
Allan died 10 Jul 1851 at Laxdel Cottage near Stornoway, Ross-shire, Scotland [1] and was buried at Kilmarie, Skye, Argyll, Scotland.[2]
