Biography

John was born in 1841 in Cloghfin, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of William Cameron and Ann McAuley. He was baptised on 03-Mar-1841 in 1st Islandmagee Presbyterian Church. [1]

In 1866 he married Catherine Ross in Ballycarry Presbyterian Church. He was a labourer from Broadisland and she was from Islandmagee. The witnesses were Jane Hill and James Cameron.[2]

He died in Temple-effin, Islandmagee in 1934, aged 93 years, from decay of nature. He was a widower and a stonemason. His death was registered by his daughter Maggie Cameron of Temple-effin.[3] He is interred in Ballykeel Graveyard, in Islandmagee, with his wife Catherine.[4]

    In loving memory of Catherine Cameron died 2nd Feb. 1929 aged 87 years. And of her husband John died 29th Nov. 1934 aged 93 years.
