Alexander was born at Booree Creek, New South Wales, Australia in 1845. ^[1] The district shown on his birth record was "JY". This was an early New South Wales church code for the Presbyterian parishes of Bungonia and Goulburn. ^[2]

Alexander passed away at 85 years of age on 26 August 1927 in the Gulgong district of New South Wales. ^[3]
