Biography

Birthdate was estimated based on her parents' estimated date of marriage (abt 1667). However, if other dates are correct, it results in her mother's having given birth at the age of 11.

Margaret Cammack was born about 1669 to Margaret (Williams) Thatcher Cammack and her husband Warwick Cammack in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia. There has been some discussion as to whether Mrs. Margaret Micou was born into her mother's first marriage to Sylvester Thatcher, but a legal record rules that out.^[1] This record states that "John Deane and Wm Clapham . . .'having married the Two only daughters of Mr. Silvester Thatcher of the County of Rappahannock ..."

Margaret married Paul Micou in 1710 in Richmond and Essex, Virginia, United States.^[2] Another record states that the marriage date was before 24 Mar 1709, which, depending on the thoughts behind the recordation of the year, could have been 1710 at the time.^[3] Finally, we have Margaret's mother's will abstract, written 24 Mar 1709, naming her daughter as "Margaret Micou" suggesting she was already married by that time. As well she should be, since she is said to be having babies in 1680. The problem here is that she was only about 11 in 1680, so her birth date must be investigated. It is consistent with her mother's marriage to Mr. Cammack in 1667. Noting the dates of her children's births, one might also look at the spacing of the children, the first spaced evenly about four years apart, and the fifth not born until 1724, which was 32 years after the last one and when her mother was in her mid-fifties. It would seem that Judith (Micou) Lomax may more properly be of a subsequent generation, or may have been born earlier than 1724.

Margaret died about 1740 in Essex County, Virginia.
