Biography

Catherine was born January 13, 1858 according to an entry in Family Search by Mary Kivlin. Census data from 1900 suggest she was born January 1862. Philadelphia Marriage index shows she married Edward John Kivlin in 1886 but no month or day listed. The handwritten microfilm copy of the 1900 census shows the family surname as Kivlin but it was transcribed into the data base as Kerlin. There are five living children at home in 1900: Edward T. Kivlin, age 12, born Feb 1888; Margaret Kivlin, age 10, born Aug 1890; Marie Kivlin, age 7, Aug 1893; and twins Catharine Kivlin and Veronica Kivlin age 2, born Oct 1898. All the children were born in Pennsylvania as was Catherine but her husband was born in South Carolina. Both Edward John and Catherine's parents were listed as born in Ireland. Edward John Kivlin's occupation is listed as Cigar Maker.

This is consistent with information imparted orally to me by my father, Charles Kivlin. I was told that his grandfather had a Cigar factory that was sold upon the death of Edward John Kivlin at the end of WWI. Still looking for more documentation.
