Origins

Samuel R Campbell was born 13 Dec 1842 in Morgan County, Illinois to William (TN) and Nancy (Reeder) Campbell of KY.[1]

Family

He first married Frances A Funk on 7 Nov 1867. Miss Frances A Funk was born July 1845 in Scott County, Illinois. They had 2 children Henry L b May 1869 and Lillie M b 27 Jan 1871. Mrs Frances A (Funk) Campbell died 20 Nov 1872. Samuel R. Campbell re-married to Martha A Burns of Buffalo Hart Township on 22 Jan 1875. They had 2 children: John W b 29 Mar 1879 and Bertha E. b 9 Mar 1881. The Campbells moved to a Macon County, Illinois farm in 1866 and remained until the fall of 1874. At that time Samuel R. Campbell sold the farm and the family returned to Buffalo Hart Township. [2]

On 9 Jun 1880, John E Constant, the enumerator for Buffalo Hart Township, Sangamon County, Illinois, reported the Samuel R Campbell household in between the Patsy Burns and Patrick Tagert households.[3]
