Biography

We have been aware of Elizabeth's journey in 1842 on the Govt. Emigration ship 'Jane Gifford' from Greenock, Scotland to Auckland, New Zealand as a 6-mth old baby. Marrying a Captain Maddox and having several children is also well documented. She perished during the 'flu epidemic 1918. I was quite overwhelmed when, after many years searching I found her poorly maintained grave-site in the Purewa Cemetary, 2007. Examine her portrait, what a strikingly handsome looking woman. She "spoke" to me there and then and am sure this sparked my desire to document our family history.
