Robert Mackay Campbell was born on 16th August 1806 at Callenter Close, Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a son of Alexander Campbell and Elizabeth Dick.
He came free to New South Wales on the Skelton in 1823.[1][2]
On 6th January 1830 in St John's Church of England, Parramatta, Robert married Ann Hassall[3] by and they had ten children, Elizabeth Ann (1830-1871), Susannah Sinclair (1832-1893), Jessie Hassall (1834-1917), Robert James (1836-1877), Mary (1838-1927), Alexander Mackay (1840-1926), William Shelley (1844-?), Catherine Alexa (1846-1932), Ann Broughton (1849-1940), and Rowland T. (1851-1931)[4].
Robert and family handed over a lease of 460 acres known as Baxter Park, near Parramatta to a Mr John James Howell (in trust) on 29th September 1834[5].
He passed away on 6th December 1885 at Jarvisfield, Picton, New South Wales (on his daughter, Jessie Antill's, property).[6]
