DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Esther by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Esther:
What is the basis of the assertion that Esther was born in 1736 (or 1737, as some estimate) in Rockbridge County, Virginia? I have no problem with the estimated year of birth, but here were VERY few if any white people living at that time in what later became Rockbridge County. In addition, it wouldn't exactly fit normal migration patterns for her to have forsaken western Virginia for Delaware so as to be married there in 1759 -- though I realize that many settlers of western Virginia and Pennsylvania fled the frontier during the 1750s for safety on account of the Indian raids characteristic of that decade, and extending to the end of war.
Thank you for calling my attention to this, it definitely needs further focused investigation, as she in fact may have been a British immigrant. I'm certain either of us will make the appropriate changes when/if her birthplace and/or parents can be more accurately documented.
Best of luck,
Mike Bissell
