William was born around 1731 possibly in Edinburgh, Scotland. His exact birth location in Scotland is currently unknown.
Military Service
At some point before 1758, William ended up in Nouvelle-France with the 78th Fraser Highlanders to fight for the British against the French. After the war he stayed in Nouvelle-France which explains the switch of his name to Guillaume.
Marriage
Guillaume married Marie Josephe Chartier around 1758 in Canada, Nouvelle-France. There's no known record of the marriage directly, only through the children they had.
Death
Guillaume died on the 15th of March, 1811 in the village of L'Acadie, Bas-Canada. He was buried two days later in the parish of Sainte-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie, Saint-Jean, Quebec, Canada.
