Jane was born in 1838 in Edinburgh Scotland, moving to Belfast Ireland before arriving in Australia in 1855. Her father died in Belfast when stabbed by a pitchfork. Jane was an Adherent of the Church of Scotland, could read.

From the Molong Argus.

Friday 11 April 1919.

Death of Mrs. Bailey.

Mrs. Jane Bailey, an old and respected resident of the Oberon district, died at half-past four on Thursday afternoon, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. W. Morrow, of Shield's Lane, at the advanced age of 80 years and 9 months. The deceased only arrived in Molong on Wednesday week, having come here to spend the winter, to escape the rigorous climate of Oberon. It is considered, however, the train journey was too much for the old lady and hastened her end, and since the sudden death of her hus- band about nine months ago she had greatly failed. The primary cause of death was senile decay. Deceased was a native of Scotland, and came to this state when in her 'teens. She was married in Bathurst 60 years ago, and had lived in the Oberon district for over a half a century. She had a family of 10 child- ren—4 sons and 6 daughters, one daughter having died many years ago. The sons are—Messrs. S. Bailey (Cumnock), W. H. Bailey (Forest Reefs), J. P. Bailey (Oberon), and Constable Bailey (River- stone) ; daughters—Mrs. W. Morrow (Mo- long), Mrs. Geo. Morrow (Bowenfels), Mrs. John Morrow, Mrs. G. Morrow, and Mrs. Jas. Whitely (Oberon). Mr George Beattie, our popular Town Clerk, is a nephew of the deceased. The four Mor- rows married to the four Bailey sisters are brothers. The body will be conveyed by the mail train to Tarana to-night, and thence by road to Oberon for burial in the C. of E. cemetery to-morrow. Mrs. Kingsland had charge of the funeral arrangements locally.
