Biography

Erwin was born in 1897.[1][2] He was the son of Thomas Campbell and Sarah Tate.

Erwin's name was changed from Irwin by his 1st grade school teacher. Left home in his early teens and came out to Utah as a field hand. Worked most of his life for UPRR. He was also a Mason.

Occupation: Machinist

He married:

  1. Ethelyn Hortense Stirling, 16 Oct 1918[3][4][5]
  2. Elaine Dorothy Halladay, 13 Sep 1955

He passed away in 1985[6] and is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Utah.[7][8]

Provo-Erwin Edwin Campbell, age 87, of Provo, died Tuesday March 19, 1985 in a Provo hospital.
Born October 27, 1987, Sault St. Marie, Michigan, the son of Thomas Alexander and Sarah Ellen Tate Campbell. Married Ethelyn H. Sterling in September 1918 Beaver County Utah. She died May 1953. Married Elaine Halladay Haycock, September 13, 1955, Evanston Wyoming. Worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 52 years and Mel Larsen Auto for 17 years. Member of Argenta Masonic Lodge #3 AF&AM, and attended Provo Community Church.
Survivors: wife, Provo; sons and daughters, Donald E. Campbell, Las Vegas, Nevada; Dorothy Middleswart, Denver, Colorado; Sherry Haycock, Provo; Colleen Seamons, Salt Lake City; Thomas James Campbell, Orem; twenty seven grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two sons, two daughters, and two brothers.

Erwin Edwin Campbell, 87, died Tuesday, March 19, 1985 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Provo.
He was born October 27, 1987, at Sault St. Marie, Mich., to Thomas Alexander and Sarah Ellen Tate Campbell. He married Ethelyn H. Sterling in September 1918 in Beaver County. She died in May 1953 at Evanston Wyo.
He had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 52 years until his retirement in November 1967. He had lived in Salt Lake City and other areas, moving to provo in 1957, where he has since resided. He was a member of the Argenta Masonic Lodge 3 AF and AM, Salt Lake City. He had attended Provo Community Church. He had worked for Mel Larsen Auto for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife of Provo; five sons and daughters, Donald E. Campbell, Las Vegas, Nev.; Dorothy Middleswart, Denver, Colo., Sherry Haycock, Provo; Colleen Seamons, Salt Lake City; and Thomas James Campbell, Orem; 27 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Preceded in were two sons and two daughters.
