Her Obituary appeared in The Evening News (Rockhampton):[2]
THE LATE MRS McPHELLAMY
Mrs Sarah Jane McPhellamy died in the Longreach Hospital early on Thursday morning. She was one the best known residents in the Windorah district and by her kindly ministrations to the sick she had endeared herself to the townspeople and graziers of that area. She entered the institution about three weeks ago following an accident at her residence when she fell and fractured her thigh. Mrs McPhellamy was aged 81 years.
She was a native of Ipswich and prior to her marriage she spent her early life there and at Roma. With her husband she was one of the earliest pioneers of the South-West, going to that district in charge of teams carrying rations from Roma via Thargomindah. They settled in business at Windorah, being interested in hotels in the district until 1907, when they selected Sedan, a resumption of Welford Downs. They lived there until 1912, when Mr McPhellamy handed over the management to his sons. On going to reside in Windorah Mrs McPhellamy took over the licence of the Western Star Hotel. Since 1917 Mrs McPhellamy had lived in retirement with her husband.
