This is not the son of Joel and Nancy (Leonard) Campbell of Saratoga, New York. The Joel Campbell family moved from place to place as a group. In about 1767 Joel, his family, and most of his brothers and a sister moved from the Newark Mountain area to the Newburgh/Wallkill/New Windsor, NY area. Joel and his off-spring moved again in about 1792 to Deerpark (Mamakating at the time), NY (close to present day Port Jervis). They moved again in 1805 to the area around Elmira, NY (Ridgebury, PA).. Joel's sons (Joel, Joshua, Ezekiel, Benoni, Nathaniel, and Jonathan) and his daughter (Jemima) are often mentioned in records in those places and during those years. Obadiah is not.[1]
