Biography
Lillian was born Mirah Doe Cann 21 Feb 1867 to Addie S. Cann in Pagetshire, Bermuda. Examination of the handwritten 1880 U.S. Census revealed a notation that she was the adopted daughter of George Stone Couch and his spouse Helen Couch.
She was mother of two children, Ella and Ralph Stone by her first husband Arthur Stone, who died in 1894, shortly after Ralph's birth. In Ella Stone's Application for membership in the National Society Women Descendents of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, reference is made to Probate court records, Salem. Mass, Vol 243, page 209, 2nd Tuesday of November 1872 which details her birth and adoption at age 5. The application also indicates a death date of July 13, 1928.
She married Fred Jewell about 4 years after the death of her first husband, and had one additional child, Albert Jewell. According to Albert's application for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution, Lillian died on July 13, 1928, confirming the date listed in his half-sister's application.
