Russell Simcock Cannon (1743-1824) was born about 1752 in probably Prince Edward County, Virginia. This date is arrived at by comparing census records and land records for him, as well as mention of his name in his grandmother’s will. There is no way that he was born earlier. His children are named specifically in his will (except for a daughter, Rhoda, who died before he did). The children are: William, James, Margret, Martha, Carter, Elijah, Harriet, Judith, and Ransom. Jane Cannon, who married Charles Harris, was not Russell’s daughter. She was the daughter of Richard Cannon, a younger brother of Russell Cannon. I have put all my updated documentation on my web page: http://simcockcannongenealogy.com/ There are Timelines and also Family Group Sheets in easily downloadable PDF form on the left side of the page. They are for Simcock Cannon, his three known sons (Russell, Richard, and William), and for Russell's children. There are also PDF's for the grandchildren of Simcock through an unknown son, toward the bottom of the left side of the web page. Russell Cannon's name was NOT Russell Simcock Cannon. The timeline for him shows every record I could locate for him. None call him Russell Simcock Cannon.
