Biography

Abstracted from the "Bonham News" Fannin Co., Tx. 16 June 1908: Mrs. Naomi Bingham died Friday at home of son-in-law, Mose Copeland, 6 mi. no. of Bonham, about 79 years old; services : W.T. Lair; buried Brown cem.

Naomi had three children that we know about, Christopher B. Bingham whose bio is attached to Naomi in "Find a Grave" and Martha "Mattie" (Bingham) Copeland (Matties husband was Mose Copeland). Mattie is buried in the same cemetery as her mother ( Brown Cemetery in Fannin County Texas) and whose bio is also in "Find a Grave". I have searched the Brown cemetery several times (in 2008 and 2009) looking for Naomis and Matties graves but have been unable to find them. The cemetery is overgrown and many of the tombstones have either fallen over or have been pushed over (face down so you cant read the names on them). In addition there were a lot of snakes in the overgrown portion of the cemetery so my wife refuses to go back with me to search any longer (and I don't blame her).

Her third child was a son named Hugh Bingham born in 1863 in Texas and he probably died between 1880 and 1900 unknown where or when but we can find no information on him after the 1880 census.

When Naomi (Cantrell) Bingham died she was living with her daughter Martha (Mattie) and her son in law Moses B. Copeland in Fannin County Texas.

Naomi also went by the name of Omy and Oma.

Naomi's father was Charles Cantrell Jr and he was born abt 1785 in Guilford County North Carolina and died between 1850 and 1860 in Fannin County Texas. Her mother was Naomi Mary (Amy and Oma) Cox, who was born about 1798 in Kentucky and who died between 1870/1880 in Zavala County Texas

Naomi's husband was William John Bingham born about 1830 in Missouri and who died in Texas sometime between 1870/1880.It is unknown where he died or where he is buried.
