Descendant of William Cantrell, the first Cantrell in North America. William arrived from England with Captain John Smith in Jamestown, Virginia on April 20, 1607
Mattison was born 1838/39 in Henderson Co NC.
In the 1860 census, he is 21 years old and living with his parents, Saml and Mary Cantrell. Also listed is a 20 year old female named Mary Mirgan. [1]
