Thomas married Louisa Lawson on 1 March 1843 in McMinn County, Tennessee.[1]
In 1850 Thomas and Louisa were living in Dade County, Missouri. They had only recently moved there, since their youngest son Elijah [Wilson] was one year old and born in Tennessee. Also in the household are children Lewis (age 5) and Sarah (age 3), both born in Tennessee.[2]

When researching the family of Thomas C Cantrell, one must be careful not to confuse him with Thomas C Cantrell born March 1823 in Tennessee and married to Susanna Cantrell. In 1870 this Thomas and his wife Louisa are living in DeKalb County, Tennessee.[4]
The other Thomas C Cantrell and his wife Susanna are living in Morgan, Dade County, Missouri in 1870.[5]
It is easy to get sidetracked to the wrong Thomas Cantrell since in 1850 they were both living in Dade County, Missouri. Our Thomas in District 25, Family #409 next door to father Elijah; the other Thomas in District 25, Family #38. The two Thomas Cantrells can be identified and separated by tracking their children.
