Biography

North Carolina Flag
Andrew Capps was born in North Carolina.

Andrews was born in 1872 in Johnston County, NC.[1] He is the son of Virginia Jennie Capps (1856 - 1930). His father is not known (see research notes). He married Ophelia Eason in 1894 in Johnston County, NC. He passed away in 1932 in Johnston County, NC.[2] He was buried in the Woodard Cemetery there a house current sits with the address of 427 Worley Rd, Princeton, NC. (see research notes)

Research Notes

  • DNA research has shown that Andrew is NOT the son of Kader Woodard (1849-1916). His death certificate lists Kedar as the father, but Kedar is not listed on any other documents. Allan Capps, great-grandson of Andrew does not have matching Y-DNA with other Woodard males.
  • Andrew was originally buried in "Woodard Cemetery", which is where a house current sits with the address of 427 Worley Rd, Princton, NC. Virgil Lee Rose (1918-2010) attended the funeral and burial for Andrew and confirmed his burial location while doing a "cemetery tour" with his cousin Allan Capps in 2009. Additionally, aerial photo archives from the Johnston County website show two patches in the field in this location that have since been cleared/plowed. These grass and tree patches are visible in the photos from 1939, 1971 and 1988. There is documentation that says Andrew's remains were moved to the Princeton Cemetery....they were not. The gravestones were moved from Woodard Cemetery at 427 Worley Rd to the cemetery behind the buildings at 610 Worley Rd, then the owners of the 610 propery paid to have that grave sites moved to Princeton Cemetary. None of the remains from the Woodard Cemetery at 427 were moved.
