Note: Thomas was a ships carpenter before joining Captain S.D. Wallace`s Company called the "Wilmington Railroad Guards. This was an independent command formed to keep rail road open north of Wilmington during the civil war. The unit seems to have been formed from the middle to the end of the war. Several of the men are of advanced ages.
