Lady Martha Carey (b. 1635/6 - d. 1706), was the daughter of Henry Carey, 2nd Earl of Monmouth and his wife Martha Cranfield.[1] She was the second wife of John Middleton, 1st Earl of Middleton (c. 1608 – 3 July 1674). He was the eldest son of Robert Middleton of Caldhame and his wife Catherine Strachan. They were married on 16 December 1667 at St. Andrew's, Holborn.[2]

The marriage date in the book matches up with the known marriage year of Martha Carey and John Middleton making the idea of Martha Carew simply being a mistyping of Martha Carey seem very likely to me at least. As a result, I think Carey-1642 and Carew-111 should be merged.
