Biography

William Carlisle was born on 26 November 1797 in Boothbay, Maine. His parents were Joseph Carlisle and Phebe (Alley) Carlisle[1].

He married Mercy Pinkham on 30 October 1818 in Boothbay[2]. They had ten children[3]:

1. Benjamin, born 14 Nov 1818
2. Phebe, born 27 Nov 1820; married Ephraim Pinkham
3. Charles, born 7 Sep 1822; married Eliza Lewis
4. Martha, born 10 Oct 1824; married a Mr. Young, went to California
5. Abigail, born 24 Dec 1826; married Nathan Baker
6. Willis, born 24 Dec 1829; died 1853
7. Albion, born 14 Apr 1832; died 1853
8. Franklin, born 24 May 1834; married 1st Louisa Seleg, 2nd Mrs. Mary A. Wylie, 3rd Mrs. Martha L. Pinkham
9. Jason, born 30 Oct 1836; married Arvilla Orne
10. Alva, born 29 Jan 1841; died 1863

William was active in Boothbay town politics and was a prominent member of the Masons. He died on 4 April 1893 in Boothbay[3] and is buried in Wylie Cemetery[4].
