At the age of 20, Thomas married Sarah Ann Elizabeth Harper on 23 November 1834 in Jefferson County, Alabama[1]. Sarah was also age 20. The ceremony was performed by James Stovall JP.
Thomas and Sarah had 13 known children: John Thomas Carlisle, Harriet Ann Carlisle, Louisa C Carlisle, Francis Carlisle, William Carlisle, Thomas Carlisle, Sarah Amanda Carlisle, George W Carlisle, Joseph M Carlisle, Henry P Carlisle, Mary Jane Carlisle, Julia Ann Carlisle, and Rhoda A Carlisle.
During the U.S. Civil War, Thomas served as a Private in the Mounted Company, Alabama Home Guard.[2]
After Sarah passed away, Thomas remarried on 24 October 1892 to Harriet M. Harper Monroe, a widow with no children.[3] Thomas was age 78 and Harriet was about 76. The marriage was solemnized by A. D. Bentley JP. Harriet was Sarah's younger sister. Harriet was the widow of William Monroe.
Thomas died on 25 july 1905 in Coosa County. He is buried in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Holman Crossroads, Coosa County, Alabama.[4]
