Biography

Hannah Carpenter’s date and location of birth is unknown. She passed away sometime after her husband Joseph Green’s Will was written on 16 Feb 1743, and after her unproven sons were born in 1747 and 1748, probably at Westchester County.[1]

Will Abstract

Joseph Green, Westchester. Use of property to wife Hannah. Legacies to sons Joseph 2S A John. Leaves to son Caleb all lands and houses, " except 60 acres on the south side of the highway that goes to the North river, and joining on the west to Joseph Washburn's land, which I give to my son Gilbert. Feb. 16, 1743. Proved March 22, 1747.[1]

Research Notes

Several researchers have suggested that James Caleb Green UE was actually the “Caleb Green” mistakenly identified by the name Caleb in Carpenter Family of America, 1901 by Daniel H. Carpenter. If this is correct, then James was the son of Caleb Green and Abigail Carpenter of Long Island, New York, rather than the Joseph Green of this profile.
