William Carpenter (1.0) descended from Carpenters dating back to John Carpenter (b 1303) who was a member of Parliament in 1323. William had three sons; all were Separatists^[1].

The generations of the family are numbered from William Carpenter1 born about 1540. He will be called Generation 1. in the American Ancestry. His name will be found in the English family No. 8, a great grandson of William Carpenter of Homme, in the Tyrconner line of Lord George Carpenter.

Some records state that Carpenter was born in Wrington, Somerset^[2].
