Biography

Ephraim Carpenter was born on July 24, 1735, in Woodstock, Connecticut, his father, Eliphalet, was 26 and his mother, Mary, was 25. He married Tabitha Chaffee on May 14, 1761, in his hometown. They had ten children in 24 years. He died on August 21, 1809, in Strafford, Vermont, at the age of 74, and was buried there.

There is some confusion with wives, but it appears that Ephriam was married only once to Tabitha Chaffee. Her older sister Rebecca married John Howlett and remained in Woodstock until her death in 1819.
