Biography
James was a Friend (Quaker)
James was born on 21 Jan 1783. He was the son of James Carpenter and Freelove (Townsend) Carpenter.[1]
He was received on request at the Purchase monthly meeting at the age of 13.[2]
He was disowned on 12d 10m 1780 [12 Oct 1780] for marrying out of society.[3] The name of his bride is not known. He acknowledged on 11d 9m 1788 [11 Sep 1788].[4]
He married second Hannah Fowler, daughter of Gilbert and Abigail, on 10d 9m 1840 [10 Sep 1840] at house of Gilbert Fowler in Harrison.[1]
