Rachel (Carr) Cox was born about 1660 in England. This estimated birth date is based on her husband's birth date of 1650. Their children were born sometime between 1688 and 1699, based on their christening dates. Rachel could've been much younger than her husband.
Timeline
Arrival in Delaware
On 4th 7th mo 1708, John Cox (wife Rachel) is mentioned in the minutes of Kennet Monthly Meeting (originally called Newark MM) as having produced a certificate from “Ould England” to Kennet MM. “ They are said to have settled in New Castle County, Delaware, which is adjacent to Kennet Twp., Chester County, Pennsylvania.
"A Certificate being produced to this meeting by John Cox a ffriend Lately come from Ould England, which said Certificate being read is Excepted of by this meeting" By the time he and his wife Rachel (Carr) arrived in Pennsylvania, John Cox was about 57 years old (b c 1650), and they were forced to rely on their their sons to build them a house and work the land. [1]
Eldest Son's arrival in Pennsylvania
Their eldest son John Jr. remained in England as his certificate was dated thirteen months after his parents. He presented his certificate in December of 1710, to the Pennsylvania Friends. “Mo Meeting held at Senter" 1710, 4th of 10 mo "At this meeting was read a Certificate on ye behalf of John Cox Junr wh'ch is excepted on it being from Old England” [2]
Marriages of Three Children
Three notable events of this family are documented in the Monthly Meetings at Abington, Pennsylvania. First: April 5, 1712 son Richard Cox was granted certificate to Abington Monthly Meeting for the purpose of marriage to Margaret Potts. Second: Sarah Cox was disowned in 1712 for her marriage to Richard Leech, a non-member. [3] Third: In 1713 John and Rachel's daughter Ann, b 1694 in Berkshire married Casparius Garrettson who had been born in 1676 in Mill Creek, New Castle, Delaware, son of New Amsterdam pioneer John Garretson Van Der Hoff. Casparus Garretson and his wife lived at Mill Creek Hundred, New Castle, Delaware. Casparius was appointed overseer of the New Castle (Quaker) Friends' Meeting May 2, 1726. [4]
She married John Cox in 1688. They had seven children during their marriage. She died on October 4, 1735, in Pennsylvania, at the age of 66. (Profile has a mismash of death dates, should be cleaned up, 1736, 1735, 1701 are listed on profile right now. I don't object to Find A Grave as source but other Bio references should be consistent or marked as Unknown.)
Ann Cox - married 1st Nathan Hussey-341, married 2nd Casparius Garretson-40, she is not the daughter of John Cox-1956 I. Again DNA evidence shows she is the daughter of # John John Cox
Disputed Unknown parents: As of Oct 2018 no parents are listed for this individual. See entry in Italics. There is no record of Embree-16 after her mention very early in Conn.[8]
I am trying to prove her parents as John William Carr b 1645- and Mary Embree b 1646 [Embree-16] : NO PROOF Oct 2018 -
John Cox-1956 I is not her husband! There is no DNA evidence. Her husband was John Cox-554. There is DNA evidence!

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Rachel by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Rachel:
If the suggested merger is accepted it should be done prior to mergers on her children, such as the proposed merge for Amy Cox-546. which I have been asked to approve. And the merge should eliminate the LNAB of Embree Carr-1. I mentioned several posts in the past that parents are unproven/disputed, so there really isnt agreement of LNAB Carr-277, but if the profile continues Carr along with all of the research notes and notices where data is disputed/incorrect, then I would move on, hopefully with dates and locations made consistently
According to my tree I am fully maternally descended from Rachel. I have taken a mtDNA test on Family Tree DNA (in which I match at least two other descendants of her). I believe I can still upgrade my mtDNA test another step to the "full" one. Would be interested in collaborating with anyone else who has been mtDNA tested and fully maternally descends from her. Might help confirm a lot of our trees.
Just FYI, I have found a record from the Bradford Monthly Meeting in Chester, Pennsylvania for a Rachel Embree born (presumably) 1768 who married George Edge, who was born in 1766. It is behind an Ancestry paywall at online
This profile was originally created as Rachel Embree Cox, the daughter of John Cox and Rachel (Carr) Cox, born 1679 in London, England. It has undergone many permutations since, including being merged with her mother's profile. This Rachel should probably be the wife of John Cox, but she was born in England. I have some sources showing that she and John Cox arrived in Pennsylvania around 1708, which are included on her husband's profile. The birthdate of 1669 in New Castle, Delaware is obviously wrong for the wife of John Cox of England.
If you have records or ideas on a Carr parent profile I would be interested to see what is documented. If there isn't a Carr father I wouldnt be unhappy with listing as Anonymous LNAB. an then wait for some untangling of the questions.
I'm also a bit suspicious of birth location in New Castle DE at that early 1665 date, without a record, that is pretty early there. 1678 marriage has to be some kind of error. In the Bio right now it states the marriage was 1688. Is one of those a typo??
Alternate LNABs for Duskin -2 match Carr-277
