Robert was born in 1740 in Virginia. He married Ann Taylor and they had several children. Robert passed away in 1793.
Research Notes
There was a Find a Grave record originally used to create this profile, but it was for the wrong Robert, one that is apparently in a different family line. The Robert Carr of our current profile was born in Virginia and is listed in "The Carr Family Records." (Another website used to create the profile is no longer active so that information cannot be verified.)
The family name was sometimes spelled as Karr or Kerr, so that has caused some record confusion.
Robert Carr, III was born the son of Robert Carr, II and Mary Williams in 1740. [1]
Family
He married Mary Ann (she often used her middle name) Taylor in about 1758.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Robert by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Robert:
Crystal White: Thank you for your patience while we worked out the errors on Carr-3275. I think with the date and place changes to profile we probably are safe in merging this profile and Carr-15959 . I have also found records for a son Nathan T. Carr, so this is a valid merge from that standpoint. When we do so lets incorporate all the text from Carr-15959 and some of the text that is not overlapping already from your profile Carr-3275. I wanted to give you a heads up first here.
Thanks, Loretta! Glad you followed up as I had not looked at this one in a while. I went ahead and completed the merge... we may still want to tidy up the profile.
Carr-3275 and Carr-15959 are not ready to be merged because: Different dates of birth .... off by a lot, born different places one Nansemond, Virginia and one in Pennnslyvania . Death dates way off and death places completely different as well . Spouses names slightly different also. Need much more research and more sources for Carr-15959 to make sure these are not really 2 different Robert Carr ?
Understand, I can see the dilemma. I know you’ve been doing a lot of work sorting these out!
I have an interesting tree branch where there are two descendants of Robert Carr… looks to be a 3rd or 4th cousin marriage. Nathan shows up along one of those lines and other descendants along the other, so that’s why I suspect these are the same and some info is incorrect.
In the notes for this record, it indicates a different death date than in the actual field, and that one matches the other Robert. The only source on this one goes to a dead link. Hopefully Lisa can weigh in at some point to see if there’s any other helpful info!
Agreed we need to research Nathan and for sure where he belongs.... maybe he belongs as a child of Carr-3275 instead and the other Robert is a different person?
Do you mean belongs with 15919, instead of where he is now with 3275? If so, I'm thinking that's likely... I'm thinking a few Robert Carr dates and places got mashed together. I do have some DNA matches and points where the family intermarried, so I am trying to go back through and see what I can find.
Not sure if you've found anything else on this. I've looked at it a bit more, and I just sent a message to Lisa, the manager of the other Robert & Ann profiles, to see if she has more info. Hopefully we can get it figured out!
Sorry Crystal, thanks for looking further. I have unfortunately not had time, large building project I ended up being architect and designer, and a critically ill family member. I appreciate you taking the lead for awhile on this !
Carr-15959 and Carr-3275 appear to represent the same person because: Thank you for your patience while we worked out the errors on Carr-3275. On your proposed merge, Crystal.... there's a big descrepancy in birth place, death date and place. Carr-3275 is definitely sourced with birth and living in Nasemond Virginia....Not Pennsylvania Carr-3275 Will record in about 1793 and in Sussex Delaware. Your proposed Carr-15959 has death1832 in North Carolina. Plus the spouse named doesn't match exactly. We need to work out all those things first. They may match, but I am very, very hesitant here. Did a Pennsylvania to North Carolina Robert exist into the 1800s married to an Ann and a son Nathan. Are they maybe likely actually different people ?There were many Robert Carr, with spouse Mary and or Ann. We certainly don't want them back like they were before I and Brenda Breland Shaffer started sorting. One even had his children as his siblings instead !
Carr-3275 and Carr-15959 appear to represent the same person because: Per the *note* on 3275, the death dates match. The wife is the same although one doesn't use both first and middle name. 3275 doesn't provide sourcing for it. The birth dates are off, but I also know Nathan Taylor Carr (son of 3275) to be part of the line we're merging into. There are a lot of Robert Carr profiles, trying to assist with cleanup. :)
