Biography
Richard Carr was born in North Carolina. By about 1843, he was married to Julia (Gregory) Carr.[1]
Among their children were:[1]
- Elizabeth Bettie (Carr) Pollock (1843-1921)[2]
- Martha Carr (b. c. 1845)
- Elizabeth Carr (b. c. 1847)
No additional census years with details of Richard Carr and his children have emerged, with the exception of a record appearing to show Julia (Gregory) Carr as a widow with the two youngest children in an 1870 Clinton Township, Sampson County household.[3] The death location is presumptive, based upon the data from the 1850 census.
Additional children were:
- Tamor Carr (ca. 1848-1915[4]), m. Frank Owen 24 Dec 1869[5]
- Ezekiel Carr (1854-1925)[6], day-laborer, age 15 in the 1870 census[3]
- Julia Carr (ca. 1857-1910)[3]

It looks like a duplicate Tama M (Carr) Owen daughter will arise form this process. It's interesting to note that she has a xGreat Grandmother who carried the name Tamar Byrd. Some of the records show Richard and Julia's daughter as Tamor, Tamer, etc. So it will be a challenge to determine which name she actually used, but that should be the standard.
If either profile manager wants to add me to the trusted list to help expedite this, I'll be glad to take that responsibility, as I would like to see this merge complete.
