Biography
Mack was born in February 1903 in Swain County, North Carolina. He is the son of John Carringer and Hettie Shope. He was Chief of Police in Murphy, Cherokee County, North Carolina. He was killed in the line of duty during a shootout with three robbery suspects on 10 October 1930. He left behind his beloved wife, Thelma Sneed Carringer, and a son who was 2 years and 8 months old at the time.[1]
