Twas eighteen hundred and ninety one, with May flowers nodding in Canada's sun, a wee lass entered the world to run.
The foot of Lochaber Lake was the place, where the small house stood without much lace, and the wee lass came to enter life's race.
Her Mama's folks were Highland Scot. Proud Pioneers, the lass was taught. Cross Roads Ohio, the MacPherson lot.
Of the Carrolls, there was Hannah and Laura, two Lucys and Lou, Margie, and Cassie, and a brother Jack, too.
She was sixth out of nine in the family Carroll. Strong but small and kind of skinnie, perhaps that's why they called her Minnie.
Soon she caught the Stateside pace and then met a man called L. Ralph Chase.
At Twin Elm Farm she did finally settle, and soon six kids came to test her mettle. But always, "That Man", brought November's rose petals.
Yes, 203 West Central Street Lawn, the chickens, the barn and house are all gone, and covered with pavement as progress moves on.
And Yet...and still Comes the gathering clan, to share some remembrance of a parting life span.
Canada's spirit has now set sail. Near a century gone as she crossed the veil. Now it's up to us to tell the tale.
That the foot of Lochaber Lake was the place, where the small house stood without any lace and the wee lass came to enter life's race.
