The attached chart was prepared by the grandson of Thomas Carroll in 1991. Work is in progress to verify the ancestry of Thomas Carroll and Fanny Brumfield Carroll Simmons.

Little is known about Thomas' father. Thomas' mother married Black Bill Simmons when he was 9. They lived at Dykes Crossing in Pike County, MS. Thomas was surely a cherished member of the Simmons family for in 1868 his step brother, Willis Richard Simmons named his son in Thomas Carroll's honor.

In the early 1870's Tom married Ella Magee. Her mother is Catherine Gray Magee. Catherine's father was Sherrod (Sherwood) Gray who lived a short distance from the Simmons farm.
