Biography

Sarah Elizabeth Carroll was born around October 1839 in Horry County, South Carolina to Samuel Denson Carroll and Lydia Baker. She first married Joel Alford of Horry County sometime around 1860. They had one child together. After Joel was captured at Missionary Ridge during the war, she had not heard back from him for many years. She remarried Samuel Green Tyler around 1867. She and Samuel Green had two additional children together. She died on September 5, 1920 in Green Sea, Horry County and her death certificate says she is buried in Boyd Cemetery in Loris, South Carolina.
