DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Rebecca by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Rebecca:
Rebecca Carroll, who married Willis Rook in Grainger County TN in 1829 was definitely not a daughter of Timothy Carroll + Agnes Higginbotham. Grainger County is 200 miles east of Bedford County, where they had been living since 1808.
Her parents were likely one of the Carroll households in the 1830 Grainger County TN census.
BTW, "Millenium Files" and "U.S. and International Marriage Records" are not primary sources.
Thank you, R.Carroll, for commenting on the lineage of Rebecca Carroll, I appreciate your insight and knowledge. I did not put the Millenium files, nor U.S. / International Marriage Records on her profile, but I appreciate your sentiment about the sources. Feel free to correct it.
And, actually, I had made a note (a few years ago) on my ancestry.com tree that Timothy Carroll and Agnes Higginbotham were NOT her parents. Apparently, the FindAGrave information got transferred here. I will look into this and try to disconnect her from the wrong parents.
As I remember, there are 5 Carroll households in 1830 Grainger County. The adults are too young in 3 of the households to have been her parents. A 4th one might be McCarroll. The 5th household has children consistent with her age.
