Biography

Henry Carroll was born in 1728 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He was the son of Daniel Carroll I of Upper Marlboro and Eleanor Brooke Darnall.

He died before 1750, before he was 21 years old, predeceasing both his parents.

His brother John Carroll became the first bishop of Baltimore and the first Catholic Archbishop in America. He established the Rock Creek Mission from a small chapel attached to their mother's mansion, and then built Saint John the Evangelist church on their mother's property. He also established Georgetown college which became Georgetown university. Henry's brother Daniel, was a member of the Senate of the Maryland legislature (1777–81) and was elected to the Continental Congress (1781–84). In 1781, he signed the Articles of Confederation. Charles Carroll of Carrollton who signed the Declaration of Independence, was his cousin.
