Biography

Thank you to Bev Fisher for info concerning LDS tree for Lillie (Priddy) Sturgeon, her grandmother. Delilah was on the 1850 census, Whitley County, age 80, in the h ousehold of her daughter Nancy and Nancy's husband, Levi Bennett . She was not found on the 1860 census and probably died betwee n 1850 and 1860.

Delilah is buried in the Levi Bennett Cemetery at Harp's Creek , Siler, Whitley County, KY. This cemetery has been pretty muc h destroyed, the tombstones bulldozed into a corner. In August , 1980 when Charley M. Cornelius was gathering information for V ol. II of Whitley County Cemeteries, Johnny Cox noted that Delil ah's tombstone was still standing, a rough field stone with no d ates and only the name "Delilah" inscribed on it.

Delilah's maiden name possibly being Arington is based on the fo llowing abstract of a will in Barnwell District, SC. Abstract o f will of Nancy Skipir, Barnwell Dist., SC.
