He was born about 1843 in Benton County, Tennessee, USA and was the son of William Anderson Carter (1812–1901) and Lydia Sallie Kinser (1823–1893).
David Franklin Carter married Nancy Ann Baker (1846-1930).
He died on 17 Aug 1916 in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee, USA [1] and was buried at Eastern State Hospital Cemetery in Bearden, Knox County, Tennessee, USA. [2]
