DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:

Carter-1588 and Carter-2011 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate--both are poorly sourced, resulting in fuzzy biographic details. It is my theory that this Joseph is the one who arrived in Fall Creek Township, Indiana in around 1831. Some of the existing genealogy work may have conflated fathers, sons, and uncles with this name.
