Middle initial R shown. I do not see it on the 1850, 1860, 1870 or 1880 Census. There is a Jesse. R Carter as #28 listed on an 1877 Gentry co., MO plat map in Twp 62N R30W Sect 21 on a plot of 40 acres. Not sure what the R stands for.

This Jesse Carter b 1822 d 26 Feb 1885 is buried in Wesley Cemetery in Eldorado, Saline, Illinois, USA.
