Edward Carter was a Virginia colonist.

Edward Carter of Westmoreland

Edward Carter was the eldest son of Thomas Carter and Katherine Dale born April 9, 1671 in Lancaster County, Virginia.

Edward married Elizabeth Thornton daughter of William Thornton and his 1st wife Elizabeth Fitzhugh on June 3, 1697 in Petsworth Parish, Gloucester County, Virginia.[1] Children of Edward Carter and Elizabeth Thornton Include:

  1. Margaret Carter born June 1, 1698.
  2. Katherine Carter born February 1, 1700, twin of Thomas.
  3. Thomas Carter born February 1, 1700. Through Thomas the Carter's and Thornton's are connected to many notable Virginia and South Carolina families; Wingo, Knight, O'Ferrall, Oliver, Tuggle, Stoke and Bacon to name a few.
  4. Judith Carter born June 22, 1702.
  5. Edward Carter born August 1704.
  6. Elizabeth Carter born May 8, 1706.

Edward Carter died intestate in 1743. The administrator of his estate was his eldest son Thomas.[2][3]

Note: This could be the Edward Carter-4690 who likely was born in Isle of Wight County, Virginia about 1660 and died in 1730 in New Hanover County, North Carolina. But not sure since Isle of Wight Co. is 50+ miles from Lancaster Co., VA.

Brother of Thomas Carter II, John Carter, Henry Skipwith Carter, Diana Carter, Nicholas Carter, Elizabeth Carter, Daniel Carter, James Carter, Katherine (Carter) Lawson, Peter Carter and Joseph Carter

Carter-11903 and Carter-7561 appear to represent the same person because: same name, exact same spouse, same father, same birthdate/location, same death date/location. clearly same person. Please merge to remove the duplicate.

The date of Edward Carter's death appears unlikely, assuming that his marriage date is correct...

Carter-7561 and Carter-7645 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same birth date exactly, same death place. Death date will need to be explained in the biography (with sources), but these should be merged first and then researched.
