aka Leonard J. Carter was the son of Carvel H. Carter and Ella N. Clayton (married 1879). Leonard's grandfather was Dennis B. Carter (1815-1886) and his grandmother was Ann L. Allender (1823-?). Ann Allender's father was Thomas Allender. (This information is from the Carter family bible, provided by Stanley Carter).
