Josephine Ellerslie CARTER.
Born 1904 Leichardt, NSW. [1]
Married her school sweetheart, but he turned out to be wife beater. Put Josie into hospital. Josie's father, a successful business man in the city - went in to sort him out and he left. Josie's daughter Beryl (Babs) spent a lot of time with Jan and they grew up together - some thought Jan and Babs were sibings. After Sid died, someone started a rumour that Babs was a love-child of hers - Jan's mum was very upset. Her violent father came to give Babs away - Jan was at the wedding. Babs had brither called "Les' died in his 30's of a heart attack leaving wife and child... (Interview with Jan 10Dec23)
