John Carter performed Patriotic Service in Virginia in the American Revolution.

John Carter is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A019972.

John Carter was born March 9, 1728, in Williamsburg, James City County, Virginia. During the American Revolutionary War, John Carter served as a Member of the Committee of Safety in for Williamsburg, VA. [1] John is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A019972. DAR records indicate that John was twice married. The maiden name of his first wife, Mary, is not given. John's second wife was Jane Mitchell. (see notes) Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of his son, Thomas Carter, who married Ann Brodnax and of his daughter Ann "Nancy" Carter, who married John Nelson.
