Biography

Her father died in 1899 and from there she ended up in the household of William Thompson where she (and some of her siblings) are listed as step-children (see notes).

Note: The 1910 census has Fanny and her siblings "Mattie, Johnie and Bennie" as Carters in the household of William W Thompson whose wife is listed as Anna and living in Breckenridge Township, Jackson Co., Arkansas. It lists Anna as being 53 and being born in Tennessee and with parents being born in the "US". It has Fannie being born in Arkansas and her father born in Georgia and her mother being born in the "US".
Note: The 1920 census has a Fanny L Carter aged 33 living with William W Thompson and wife Anna where she is listed as a "stepdaughter" living in Cowlake Township, Jackson Co. Arkansas. It has her mother born in Kentucky and her father born in Georgia. The Thompsons were 64 and 63 respectively in 1920. They had a son of their own also still at home .
