Carter-31988 and Carter-261 appear to represent the same person because: Clearly intended to be the same person (2nd marriage to Walker-606, Samuel Walker). Minimal data on -31988; all data from -261 should be preserved.

There is a separate issue with Samuel Walker (1st wife's profile: merge needed of Reed-25642 into Reed-480) that can be dealt with independent of this merge.

Torrey's New England Marriages identifies the Abigail Carter who married James Fowle, Samuel Walker, and Samuel Stone as a different person than the one who married John Smith. Here's his text for the one who married Fowle, Walker, and Stone:

FOWLE, James (1642-1690, Woburn) & Abigail [CARTER] (1648-), dau John, m/2 Samuel WALKER 1692, m/3 Samuel STONE; by 1667(8?); Charlestown {Warner-Harrington 639; Charlestown 370; Woburn Hist. 612; Reg. 2:270, 57:352, 356, 85:101; Stone (,6) 80; Richardson

If that analysis is correct, John Smith needs to be disconnected from this woman and attached to Carter-921.
