Alice Withers married Gregory Carter at Ickworth, Suffolk in 1598.[1]
This marriage is unlikely to be to Gregory Carter of Hinderclay, Suffolk as the two places are about 18 miles apart. There is a local Hinderclay marriage for Gregory which is much more likely. The profiles have been disconnected. Greet-49 02:44, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
Alice (Withers) Carter was born about 1555 in Suffolk, England.
Alice married Gregory Carter (~1550 - 1607) in 1575 in England. Their son was James Carter (~1585 - ~1625).
Alice died about 1606 in Hinderclay, Suffolk aged ~51.
Alice Withers was first married to a man named Bland and had four children by him: Richard; Nicholas; Anne; Margaret.
Alice Withers married Gregory Carter (1550-1607) perhaps in Ickworth, Suffolk, England, in 1575. Per Gregory Carter's will dated 26 Jul 1606, they had eight children: Robert, Humphrey; (Thomas) James Carter (1585-1625); Thomas; Edmund; Anne; Margaret; Elizabeth. Anne and Margaret may have been children of Alice Withers' first marriage, and several sources also (improbably!) add a son, William (1563-1625) [born before either his father or mother were born!!!]. Note that the date of marriage for Gregory Carter and Alice Withers is given variously as 1575, 12 Jul 1584, or 1 Nov 1598. Lacking proof for any of the options, it is probably best to give 1575 as the date.
