Biography

Rev. Samuel Carter was the first born son of Rev. Thomas Carter (1608-1684) and Mary Parkhurst Dalton (1614-1687).
Held offices in Woburn, Mass: Selectman 1679,1681-1683; Commissioner of Rates, 1680; Town Clerk, 1690.
Was teacher of the grammar school 1685-6.

:He preached sometimes in Lancaster between 1681 and 1686.

Was invited to become preacher in Groton in 1692---died shortly thereafter in 1693.

Samuel Carter married Eunice Mousall Brooks (1655-1732) in 1672 in Woburn, Middlesex Co, MA. They had nine children: Mary (1673-1751); Samuel (1675-1676); Samuel, Jr. (1678-1738); John (1680-1704); Thomas (1682-1737); Nathaniel (1685-?); Eunice (1687-?); Abigail (1689-1689); Abigail (1690-1747).
