Biography
Rebecca Carter was born about 1808 in North Carolina, daughter of Silas Carter (about 1780–before 1850).
Rebecca (21) married John Arnett Taylor (23) (born on 20 October 1806 in Lenoir, North Carolina, United States; son of Windal Taylor and Rebecca Francis (Arnett) Taylor) in 1830 in Alabama, United States. Their known children were:
- William Taylor (17 September 1831 – 29 August 1862) .
- Mary Elizabeth Taylor (14 January 1838 – 10 June 1925) .
- Windal William Taylor (16 September 1840 – 27 October 1925) .
- Washington A Taylor (1843 – 1864) .
- John Jeptha Taylor (8 July 1847 – 9 December 1925)
Rebecca died on 14 October 1884 in Rose Hill, Covington County, Alabama, aged about 76.[1]
Research Notes
BIRTH: The 1850, 1860, and 1870 census list North Carolina. Her son, Windal W. Taylor, states in his 1893 Personal Memoir that she was born in South Carolina.
MARRIAGE: between 1824 and 1830, based upon 1) the personal memoir of her son, Windal W. Taylor, states his parents married in Alabama, they arrived separately with their parents in 1824, and 2) birth of first know child in 1831.
